The central fallacy of Mariolatry (also spelled Maryolatry) is that it assigns to Mary an unscriptural role of mediator between God and man. Within Catholicism, the "Blessed Mother" is just one of many such go-betweens. However, the scriptures couldn't be any clearer on the subject of mediators between God and men. The apostle Paul exhorts the believers: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (I Tim. 2:5); he is the mediator of the new testament. (Heb. 9:15); Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, (Heb. 12:24); by himself purged our sins (Heb. 1:3). Jesus Christ himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6). Nowhere in the scriptures is there a single example of the disciples or the apostles praying to Mary or any other deceased saint. Jesus said, I am the door of the sheep. And, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. (John 10:1,7). (It is interesting to note that the text of the NAB, the official Bible of the Catholic church, acknowledges these facts, while the teachings of the Catholic church contradict its own Bible.)
The quotes below are offered free of commentary. If you can't see what's wrong with them, there's not a whole lot I could say is there?
Pope Benedict XV, in 1918 - Mary suffered with Christ and nearly died with Him when He died, thus she may rightly be said to have redeemed the human race with Christ.
Fr. Frederick William Faber: Mary, being altogether transformed into God by grace and by the glory which transforms all the saints into Him, asks nothing, wishes nothing, does nothing contrary to the eternal and immutable will of God.
Pope Pius XI, in 1923 - The virgin of sorrows shared the work of redemption with Jesus Christ.
Opus Sanctorum Angelorum - she became, in effect, a close relative of the Blessed Trinity when she was crowned Queen of the Universe by her Son.
Pope Leo XIII, in 1891 - No one can approach Christ except through His mother.
The Catechism, in the Sunday Missal (Catholic Catechism) says, My salvation depends on Mary's mediation and union with Christ, because of her exalted position as Mediatrix of all grace.
Vatican II, said, Mary's intercession continues to win for us the gift of eternal salvation.
Pius IX: On this hope we chiefly rely, that the most Blessed Virgin who raised the height of merits above all the choirs of Angels to the throne of the Deity, and by the foot of Virtue 'bruised the serpent's head,' and who, being constituted between Christ and His Church, and, being wholly sweet and full of graces... will turn our sorrow into joy. For ye know very well, Ven. Brethren, that the whole of our confidence is placed in the most Holy Virgin, since God has placed in Mary the fullness of all good, that accordingly we may know that if there is any hope in us, if any grace, if any salvation, it redounds to us from her, because such is His will Who hath willed that we should have everything through Mary.
Archbishop of Syracuse 'We know certainly that she, in the fulness of time, was Co-redemptress of the human race, together with her Son Jesus Christ our Lord.'
Bishop of Asti: 'the dogma of the singular privilege granted by the Divine Redeemer to His pure mother, the Co-redemptress of the world.'
Bishop of Gallipoli wrote, 'the human race, whom the Son of God, from her, redeemed; whom, together with Him, she herself co-redeemed.'
Bishop of Cariati prayed the Pope to 'command all the sons of Holy Mother Church and thy own, that no one of them should dare at any time hereafter to suspect as to the Immaculate Conception of their Co-redeemer.'
Bishop of Alghero wrote, 'It is the common consent of all the faithful, and the common wish and desire of all, that our so beneficent Parent and Co-redeemer should be presented by the Apostolic See with the honour of this most illustrious mystery.'
Bishop of Almeria 'Let Us make a help like unto Him,' assures us of it. and confirms those most ancient traditions, 'Companion of the Redeemer,' 'Co-Redemptress,' 'Authoress of everlasting salvation.'
Pope Paul - Your sweet, most human voice, O most beautiful among virgins, O most worthy among mothers, O blessed among women, calls upon this world to turn its glance towards the light which is the light of men?towards thee, who are the supporting light of Christ, only and highest light in the world.
Pope John Paul II Membership in the Militia means complete dedication to the Kingdom of God and to the salvation of souls through Mary Immaculate.
Fr. Stephan Scheier - We have an advocate in Mary that the father, Son, and Holy Spirit cannot say no to. It is impossible for them to say no to her!
Pope John Paull II has 'dedicated himself and his Pontificate to Our Lady.' He bears the letter "M" for Mary in his coat of arms. And his personal motto, which is embroidered on the side of his robes in Latin is the following: "TOTUS TUUS SUM MARIA", which in English translates to: MARY, I'M ALL YOURS.
When Pope John Paul II was shot, while the ambulance was rushing him to the hospital, the Pope was not praying to God or calling on the name of Jesus. He kept saying, over and over: Mary, my mother! When the Pope recovered, he gave Mary all the glory for saving his life, and he made a pilgrimage to Fatima to publicly thank her.
Pope Benedict XV: One can justly say that with Christ, she herself redeemed mankind.
Pope Pius IX: Our salvation is based upon the holy Virgin... so that if there is any hope and spiritual healing for us we receive it solely and uniquely from her.
Leo XIII, Jucunda Semper, 1894: When Mary offered herself completely to God together with her Son in the temple, she was already sharing with him the painful atonement on behalf of the human race ... (at the foot of cross) she willingly offered him up to the divine justice, dying with him in her heart, pierced by the sword of sorrow.
Pius X, Ad Diem Illum, 1904: Owing to the union of suffering and purpose existing between Christ and Mary, she merited to become most worthily the reparatrix of the lost world, and for this reason, the dispenser of ALL favors which Jesus acquired for us by his death
Plus XI, 1935, in a prayer to close a jubilee, we find the first use of the word Coredemptrix by a pope: O Mother of love and mercy who, when thy sweetest Son was consummating the Redemption of the human race on in the altar of the cross, didst stand next to him suffering with him as a Coredemptrix.
Plus XII, in a radio broadcast in 1946: Mary, for having been associated with the King of Martyrs in the ineffable work of human Redemption as Mother and cooperatrix, she remains forever associated with him, with an almost unlimited power, in the distribution of graces which flow from the Redemption.
Paul VI, Christi Matri. The Church ... been accustomed to have recourse to that most ready intercessor, her Mother Mary ... For as St. Irenaeus says, she 'has become the cause of salvation for the whole human race
Plus X, Ad Diem Illum, 1904: It was granted to the august Virgin to be together with her Only-begotten Son the most powerful Mediatrix and Conciliatrix of the whole world. So Christ is the source . . . Mary, however, as St. Bernard justly remarks, is the channel, or she is the neck by which the Body is united to the Head... through which ALL spiritual gifts are communicated to his Body.
Benedict XV, In a decree on Joan of Are: In every miracle we must recognize the mediation of Mary, through whom, according to God's will, every grace and blessing comes to us.
John Paul II, Dives in Misericordia, 1980, quoting Lumen Gentium, In fact, by being assumed into heaven she has not laid aside the office of salvation but by the manifold intercession she continues to obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation.
Pope John Paul II has dedicated the third millenium to Mary.
Pope Leo XIII ...With equal truth may it be also affirmed that, by the will of God, Mary is the intermediary through whom is distributed unto us this immense treasure of mercies gathered by God, for mercy and truth were created by Jesus Christ. Thus as no man goeth to the Father but by the Son, so no man goeth to Christ but by His Mother... Faithful to the religious example of our fathers, let us have recourse to Mary, our holy Sovereign.
Leo XIII: The Blessed Virgin is infinitely superior to all the hierarchies of men and angels, the one creature who is closest of all to Christ. "It is a great thing in any saint to have grace sufficient for the salvation of many souls; but to have enough to suffice for the salvation of everybody in the world is the greatest of all; and this is found in Christ and in the Blessed Virgin.
Leo XIII: Every grace granted to man has three degrees in order; for by God it is communicated to Christ, from Christ it passes to the Virgin, and from the Virgin it descends to us.
St. Louis De Montfort: Thousands of souls perish because Mary is withheld from them. It is the miserable unworthy shadow which we call our devotion to the Blessed Virgin, that is the cause of all these wants and blights, these evils and omissions and declines. Yet, if we are to believe the revelations of the saints, God is pressing for a greater, a wider, a stronger, quite another devotion to His Blessed Mother.
Quoting Pope John Paul II, The Pope, at the beginning of his episcopal service in St. Peter's Chair in Rome, wishes to entrust the Church particularly to her in whom there was accomplished the stupendous and complete victory of good over evil, of love over hatred, of grace over sin; to her of whom Paul VI said that she is ' the beginning of the better world;' to the Blessed Virgin. He entrusts to her himself, as the servant of servants, and all those whom he serves, all those who serve with him. He entrusts to her the Roman Church, as token and principle of all the churches in the world, in their universal unity. He entrusts it to her and offers it to her as her property. Pope John Paul II Mary is also Mother of Mercy because it is to her that Jesus entrusts his Church and all humanity.
St. Alphonsus Liguori: Take away the sun and where will be the day? Take away Mary, and what will be left but the darkest night? When a soul loses devotion to Mary, it is immediately enveloped in darkness, and it is in that darkness of which the Holy Spirit speaks in the Psalms: "You bring darkness and it is night; then all the beasts of the forest roam about.
St. Alphonsus Liguori St. Anselm reminds us that we may obtain mercy more quickly from Mary than from Jesus
St. Alphonsus Liguori: St. Lawrence Justinian asks: "How can she be otherwise than full of grace, who has been made the ladder to paradise, the gate of heaven, the most true mediatrix between God and man? .... That it is most useful and holy to have recourse to the intercession of Mary can only be doubted by those who have not faith. But, what we intend to prove here, is that the intercession of Mary is even necessary to salvation. We say necessary - not absolutely but morally."
St. John Damascene: Pure and immaculate Virgin, save me, and deliver me from eternal damnation!
St. Bonaventure called Mary the salvation of those who invoked her.
St. Germanus: No one is saved but through Mary.
St. Alphonsus Liguori: St. Francis Borgia had great doubts about the salvation of those that have not a special devotion to Mary; because, according to St. Antonine, he who expects graces from God without the intercession of Mary attempts to fly without wings. St. Anselm has gone so far as to say: "It is impossible to be saved if we turn away from thee, O Mary." St. Bonaventure has said the same: "He that neglects her will die in his sins." Blessed Albertus Magnus says: 'The people that do not serve thee will perish." And speaking of Mary, Richard of St. Laurence says: "All those whom this ship does not receive are lost in the sea of this world." But, on the other hand, he who is faithful in the service of Mary will be certainly saved. "Oh Mother of God," says St. John Damascene, "if I put my confidence in you I shall be saved. If I am under your protection I have nothing to fear; for to be devoted to you is to have certain arms of salvation which God gives only to those whose salvation he wills in a special manner.
St. Louis Marie de Montfort: We must perform all our actions for Mary, which means that as slaves of this noble Queen we will work only for her, promoting her interests and her high renown, and making this the first aim in all our acts... We should often repeat from the depths of our heart: 'Dear Mother, it is to please you that I go here or there, that I do this or that, that I suffer this pain or this injury.'
Richard of St. Laurence: From the omnipotent Son the Mother was made omnipotent....
Pius XII - Let all Christians, therefore, glory in being subjects of the Virgin Mother of God, who, while wielding royal power, is on fire with a mother's love.
Gregory XVI - called Mary the most Blessed Virgin, who Alone destroys all heresies, who is our greatest hope, yea, the entire ground of our hope.
Pius IX - But in order that our most merciful God may the more readily incline his ear to our prayers, and may grant that which we implore, let us ever have recourse to the intercession of the most Holy Mother of God, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, our sweetest mother, our Mediatrix, our advocate, our surest hope, and firmest reliance, than whose patronage nothing is more potent, nothing more effectual with God.

MARY NOT A PERPETUAL VIRGIN NOR THE MOTHER OF GOD, 1846
But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. (Jeremiah 44:17) CLICK IMAGE But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. (Jeremiah 44:18)
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. (I Cor. 10:11)
